MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Davis & Elkins paid a visit to Morehead State of the Ohio Valley Conference and NCAA Division I for an out-of-conference women's basketball matchup Monday afternoon and were met with a tough challenge as they fell 83-28.
The Senators were within three points of Eagles (15-12) with just over 2:00 remaining in the first quarter before Morehead State broke the game open with a 9-0 run to end the quarter and give themselves a 23-12 lead at the buzzer.
The Eagles outscored D&E 16-4 in the second quarter to take a 39-16 lead to the locker room.
D&E was unfortunately outmatched in the second half as the Eagles outscored the Senators 44-12. Their tenacious defense led to 28 fast break points and 29 points off turnovers. Morehead State also had their way underneath, scoring 44 points in the paint.

Laura Hogan who each scored 5 points. Shaver pulled down 3 rebounds and had 2 steals. Smith had 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Hogan also led the team with 6 rebounds.
Jaela Reid scored 4 points, had 4 rebounds, and a team-high 3 blocks.
Alexis Smith scored 3 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and had 3 assists.

The Senators host Fayetteville State University on Saturday, December 30 at 2pm. They return to Mountain East Conference play on Wednesday, January 10 in a home contest with Glenville State. Tip is set for 5:30pm.
