LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Davis & Elkins women's cross country team earned a spot in the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships by way of a third-place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships Saturday.

Lauren Twyman (23rd) with
Savanna Hardman (26th) and
Cameryn Wheeler (32nd) just missing out.
The final scorer for the Senator women was
Ella Hesson (50th). Also competing in the regional championships top seven for the Senators were
Brooke Jacobs (125

Sierra Taylor (128

The Senators had their second-best ever team scoring average (22:10), just short of the 22:05 record they set earlier this season.
"This entire team (both men and women) was part of reaching this goal (both teams qualifying for NCAA Championships)," said head coach
Jason Pyles. "It's the culture that all thirty-two of our cross country members have built and bonded with that accomplished this goal. They have already left a legacy that each and every one of them can be proud of. I'm excited to watch them battle at the National Championships to the best of their abilities. I'm very blessed to be their coach!"
The Senators will now prepare to travel to Joplin, Missouri for the National Championships, which will be hosted by Missouri Southern State University on Saturday November 18.
