WHEELING, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins finished second overall as three Senator runners finished in the top ten and two more finished in the top twenty in the Mountain East Conference Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at the Crispin Golf Course at Oglebay Resort.
D&E finished runner-up to MEC Champions, the University of Charleston. Charleston finished the 6K course in an average time of 24:18.01 and 34 points. The Senators averaged 24:56.32 and scored 51 points.
D&E was led by freshman
Lydia Falkenstein, who finished fourth overall and was named First Team All-MEC and MEC Freshman of the Year. Falkenstein ran the course in 24:09.49.
Lauren Twyman and
Ella Hesson were also named First Team All-MEC. Twyman ran the course in 24:27.84 and finished seventh overall. Hesson, who finished tenth, crossed the line in 24:36.12.
The Senators'
Savanna Hardman and
Cameryn Wheeler were named Second Team All-MEC. Hardman finished twelfth in 25:31.13 and Wheeler was eighteenth in 25:57.02.
Kaitlin Pappas (26:40.95) finished twenty-fifth for D&E, while
Brooke Jacobs (27:57.78) finished thirty-sixth.
Charleston's Julie LaFare was the overall champion in a course-record time of 23:01.81. She was named MEC Runner of the Year.
Charleston's Nick Bias was named MEC Coach of the Year.
Concord finished third in the Championships with 95 points, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (106) and Frostburg State (146).
