Senators Swept at West Virginia State

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College baseball was swept in a doubleheader today at West Virginia State.  The Yellow Jackets took game one by the score of 11-0 and followed that up with a 7-2 win in game two. 

Game One
WVSU scored three runs in the first inning, added three more in the third and fourth innings to lead 9-0 after four complete.  The Yellow Jackets would cross the plate two times in the sixth to make the final score 11-0.

Chase DeGrood went 1-3 at the plate.  Cole Hitch and Brycen Sechler both went 1-2. 

Game Two
West Virginia State scored four runs in the first inning.  D&E would score two runs in fifth inning taking advantage of a WVSU failed pickoff attempt.  The Yellow Jackets added three runs in the sixth to earn the 7-2 Mountain East Conference win.

Kamien Gonzalez continued to play well in the series going 2-3 today.  Wesley Athey had a hit and score a run.  Luis Diaz scored a run.

Davis & Elkins falls to 6-34 overall and 3-25 in the MEC. 

The Yellow Jackets improve to 24-17 and 16-12 in the league.

The Senators return to the diamond Friday, hosting West Virginia Wesleyan for Senior Day at Harpertown Field.
