Davis & Elkins Splits Twin Bill with Battlers

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Coach Tim Miller's Davis & Elkins College baseball team traveled to Philippi today for a Mountain East Conference doubleheader with the Battlers.  Alderson Broaddus took game one by a score of 4-0.  D&E got the win in game two 2-0.

Game One
The Battlers scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and added a run in the bottom of the fifth.  Battler pitcher Dylan Kautz pitched seven shutout innings to get AB a 4-0 win.

Cole Hitch and Zachary Higgins each had a hit for Senators.  Pitchers Justin Wisniewski and Tyler Jenkins teamed up to give up only two earned runs.

Game Two
Davis & Elkins took advantage of an AB error to get a run in the top of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead.  Cole Hitch knocked in Fletcher Hindman in the top of seventh to add an insurance run in the top of the seventh to seal a 2-0 win in game two. 

McKinnley Scott pitched seven shutout innings, scattering seven hits.  Scott struck out four Battlers and issued zero free passes. 
Hindman, Hitch, Chase DeGrood, and Anthony Laney each had hits for the Senators.  Laney and Hindman each scored a run. 

D&E is now 5-19 overall and 2-10 in the MEC.

The Senators open divisional play next weekend at Harpertown Field.  Hosting Glenville State for a four-game series.  First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 1:00pm.
