ETTRICK, Va. – The Davis & Elkins College baseball earned their first two victories of the 2022 season today. In game one the Senators defeated VSU 6-1. In game two they won by the score of 5-3.

Zachary McGillian went the distance for the Senators, pitching seven strong innings. McGillian gave up one run on five hits with five strike outs.
Chase DeGrood led the offensive attack for the Senators going 2-4 with two runs batted in.
Mason Brenneman had two hits and an RBI.
Zachary Higgins and
Anthony Laney each had an RBI.

The Senators came from behind in game two of the series, scoring four runs in the final two innings.
Jayden Nixon tripled to right field in the top of the sixth to score Brenneman.
Larry Kusan then singled to center to bring in Nixon and tie the game at three. Kusan came to the plate in the seventh and came through again, hitting a single to left to bring in DeGrood and
Austin Beattie.
McKinley Scott struck out six in 4 2/3 innings. Scott gave up three runs, all earned.
Justin Wisniewski earned the save pitching 2 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball and striking out two.
The Senators improve to 2-3. VSU falls to 4-5.
The two teams will play a doubleheader again on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm
