ETTRICK, Va. – The Davis & Elkins College baseball team played the final two games of their series with Virginia State today. In game three the Senators defeated VSU 5-3. D&E dropped game four 8-5. Davis & Elkins won the series 3-1.

The Senators scored three runs in the top of the first as the Trojan starting pitcher struggled to find the zone.
Larry Kusan,
Lucas Myford, and
Flecther Hindman all had RBIs on free passes. In the top of the 6th inning
Wesley Athey hit a single to right to score
Chase DeGrood and
Austin Beattie. Athey's two RBI single broke a 3-3 tie.
Mason Brenneman started game three and went five innings, giving up three runs on five hits. DeGrood and
Jake Spearen combined to pitch two innings of scoreless relief.

VSU scored four runs in the bottom of the first and held of the Senators in the late innings to avoid the sweep.
Cole Hitch led D&E at the plate. Hitch was 2-3 with three RBIs.
Kamien Gonzalez also had a hit.
Brycen Sechler pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Davis & Elkins hits the road again next weekend, traveling to Slippery Rock for a 3-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm Saturday.
