MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Davis & Elkins College baseball team traveled to Georgia over the weekend to open their 2022 season. The Senators had a three-game series at Georgia College. The Bobcats had already play nine games on the season, while D&E has been lucky to get a practice in outside. GC took all three games of the series.

Austin Beattie led the Senators at the plate. Beattie had two hits.
Mason Brenneman and
Chase DeGrood each had a hit.
Getting the start for D&E was
Zachary McGillan. McGillan gave up two runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk in four innings of work. Freshman
Jake Spearen took the mound in the fifth inning. Spearen would give up four runs on three hits with two walks. Spearen had one strikeout in his two and a third innings of work.
Justin Wisniewski would finish the game for the Senators pitching one and two-thirds innings. Wisniewski struck out two Bobcats.

In game two
Wesley Athey led the hitting attack for Davis & Elkins. Athey hit two-run homer over the right field wall to open up the 2022 scoring for D&E.
Jake Spearen,
Cole Hitch,
Chase DeGrood, and
Larry Kusan all had one hit.
After a rough first inning the pitching staff settled down giving up three runs the rest of the game.

Wesley Athey would go yard in game three scoring the lone run for the Senators.

Mason Brenneman. Brenneman gave up four runs, three earned, on seven hits in four innings of work.
Justin Wisniewski threw two innings giving up two runs on three hits.

Tim Miller and his D&E baseball will travel to Petersburg, Virginia next weekend for a four-game series with Virginia State University.
