ELKINS, W.Va. – Coach Rachel Swartz and her Davis & Elkins College women's basketball team faced a tremendous challenge Wednesday night inside the McDonnell Center.  Glenville State, the number one ranked team in the country made the trip to Elkins.  For 32 minutes D&E gave GSC all they wanted.  A late Lady Pioneer run would be the difference and Glenville State would keep their undefeated season alive winning 82-69

After a low scoring first quarter the Senators led 12-8.  Glenville would outscore D&E in the second quarter and take a 31-29 into the locker room.  The 31 first half points by GSC were their lowest in a half this season.  Davis and Elkins would not go away in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Pioneers 25-22 and taking a one-point lead (54-53) into the final quarter.  Glenville would go on a 22-3 run in the fourth quarter outscoring the Senators 29-15 in the final frame to escape Elkins with a win.

D&E was led by Allie Taylor.  Taylor finished with 21 points going 7-8 from three.  Marissa Berlin was outstanding on the boards finishing with 16 to go along with her 18 points.  Peyton Mohler contributed 17 points followed by Dream Cherry 12.

The Lady Pioneers were led by Re'Shawna Stone's 19 points followed by Zakiyah Winfield 18. 

Davis & Elkins falls to 6-18 overall and 3-15 in the Mountain East Conference.

Glenville State improves to 24-0 and 19-0 in the MEC.

The Senators hit the road this weekend, traveling to Athens, W.Va. to take on Concord.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
