CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's basketball team traveled to the capital city tonight to take on the Golden Eagles. The hot shooting Charleston squad came out on top 90-72.
UC led 22-17 after the first quarter and 47-30 at the half. The Golden Eagles shot 69.2% in the second quarter compared to D&E's 35.3%. D&E couldn't cut into the lead, they trailed 73-51 after three quarters of play. The Senators would out score Charleston 21-17 in the fourth quarter. For the game UC shot 56.1% from the floor and 50% from three.
The Senators had four players in double figures
Dream Cherry with 17,
Marissa Berlin 14,
Allie Taylor 12, and
Peyton Mohler 10. Cherry had a team high six assists, Berlin led the team in rebounding with six.
Charleston was led by Markyia McCormick with 18 points, followed by Clarrissa Francis 17. Anastasiia Zakharova and Trinity Palacio each had 14.
The Senators drop to 4-12 overall and 1-10 in the Mountain East Conference.
UC improves to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in the MEC.
D&E returns home this Wednesday night hosting West Liberty at 5:30pm.
