FAIRMONT, W.VA. – Davis & Elkins women's basketball team dropped a Mountain East Conference contest 68-59 Wednesday night at Fairmont State.
The Senators trailed by just three points after a quarter of play 13-10.
Allie Taylor connected from three twice in the second quarter and D&E trailed 31-30 at the break. Fairmont State would open the second half on a 15-2 run to put the Falcons up 46-32. The Senators wouldn't quit and ended up cutting the lead to just six with 1:04 to play in the game. Fairmont's Kamrin Weimer connected on a corner three with 34 seconds left to put the game away.
Taylor and
Marissa Berlin each had double-doubles. Taylor scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Berlin had 16 points and 14 boards.
Dream Cherry just missed a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.
The Falcons were led by Weimer, who had 17 points connecting on five of seven three-point field goals.
D&E drops to 3-11 overall and 0-9 in the MEC.
Fairmont improves to 9-5 and 7-2 in the league.
The Senators return home Saturday afternoon hosting rival West Virginia Wesleyan at 2pm inside the McDonnell Center.
