ATHENS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins baseball dropped a pair of games to Concord on Sunday, 11-4 and 8-2, on Sunday in the first of consecutive doubleheaders.
Cole Hitch and
Ryan Savitt posted two knocks each in game one for Davis & Elkins (6-16), which fell behind early in both games.
THE RUNDOWN: GAME ONE

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE
- Concord opened the game in a flurry, posting four runs in its first trip to the plate for an early 4-0 advantage. Luis Diaz raced home on a wild pitch for the Senators' first run of the day in the second.
- The Mountain Lions cracked a solo home run in the third before pushing across four more runs in the fourth, moving the lead to 9-1.
- Christian Ortega scored two with a single to left in the fifth, plating Alex Castaneda and Savitt as D&E trailed 10-3. Casteneda and Savitt led off the inning with consecutive singles through the right side before Ortega delivered two batters later with the bases loaded.
- Savitt grounded out in the sixth, scoring Diaz for an unearned run and the 11-4 final margin.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO
- Concord hurler Andrew Neff fired a two-hit complete game, striking out nine. Brent McMillion made his first appearance of the season after battling injury, tossing one inning (32 pitches).
- Troy McMillion made his return to the lineup with a run-scoring single, plating Najay King in the second.
- Concord answered back with four runs in the bottom of the second to pull ahead for good.
- Ortega Brough home a run on a fourth-inning groundout, trimming the deficit to 6-2. The Mountain Lions posted two more runs, both on sacrifice flies, for the 8-2 advantage.
- Jeremy Torres entered for the final five innings, allowing six runs (none earned) on six hits.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Max Larimore started on the mound in game one, tossing four innings for the Senators. Justin Wisniewski entered in relief, surrendering one earned run in two innings of work with a pair of strikeouts.
- Troy McMillion, Castaneda and Chase DeGrood accounted for the Senators only three hits in game two.
- Ortega has now reached base safely in 13 straight games, while Castaneda pushed his streak of reaching base safely to eight games.
- Concord pushed its winning streak to seven consecutive games with the doubleheader sweep.
