Baseball Overpowered by #19 Charleston (W.Va.) on Saturday

ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins baseball suffered a doubleheader sweep, losing 6-2 and 15-1, to 19th-ranked Charleston (W.Va.) on Saturday at Harpertown Field.

Najay King smacked a game-tying home run in the first for Davis & Elkins (5-13), scoring Christian Ortega to knot the score at two in game one.

UC (23-3) scored the remainder of the runs in game one before jumping out to an early lead in game two. Ortega launched a home run of his own in the bottom of the first in game two, but the Golden Eagles answered back with two more runs in the second.

Max Larimore tossed six innings on the mound in the first game, tying a season-high seven strikeouts. Rory Burke closed out the final inning for the Senators in game one.

Jeremy Torres made the start on the mound in game two, before Justin Wisniewski, Jason Perdue, Luis Diaz and Zachary Higgins.

Davis & Elkins wraps up the four-game set with Charleston on Sunday, April 18 with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM.
