PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins women's soccer dictated play for much of the evening, breaking through for its first win and shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory at Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday night.
Lisa Milliken buried a looping set piece from
Maria Cabal in the 31st minute to provide Davis & Elkins (1-3) a lead it would not relinquish.
Anna Kerth made one save in her return to the net as D&E posted a 16-7 edge in shots.
Alderosn Broaddus (0-2-1) was only able to muster that lone shot on target, coming in the 74th minute. The Battlers did have an attempt ring off the crossbar and the Senators fired a shot off the post as both sides had close looks.
The Senators had eight shots on frame, with four attempts coming from Milliken and two more off the foot of
Alexa Karsel.
Milliken scored her first goal of the season and Cabal added her first assist of the spring 2021 campaign.
Lianna Smith and
Alexandra Cantarelli also finished with a pair of shots each for the Senators, who tested AB keeper Alexis McKeown.
Davis & Elkins is back on the road on Friday, March 26, traveling to Glenville State for a 7:00 PM matchup.
