SARASOTA, Fla. — Davis & Elkins women's triathlon was in action early this morning, competing in the second race of the season at the Bradenton-Sarasota Tri on Sunday morning.
Zoe van Dijk posted a second-place finish to pace the Senators with a total time of 1:02:03.1, including a 11:05 swim, 29:48 bike and 19:49 run. While the results have Van Dijk listed in third, the competitor ahead started one minute early and had an adjusted time.
No team scores were kept in the event that featured 23 runners, including six from Davis & Elkins. The Senators capped their trip to Florida with the second race of the season, previously finishing the Clermont Draft Challenge on March 6.
Eleonora Pierre came in fifth with a 1:03:25.6 (10:37 swim, 30:16 bike, 21:08 run) and
Mia Pelletier picked up a 10th-place finish with a total of 1:06:39.0 (11:01 swim, 31:26 bike, 22:29 run) as the next D&E competitor to cross the line.
Dru Mills (1:14:04.5) followed in 15th, while
Rut Tallon (1:20:30.5) and
Elizabeth Craig (1:25:52.4) finished in 18th and 20th, respectively. Tallon suffered a flat tire in the bike portion, accounting for 42:12 of her total time.
Davis & Elkins will conclude the spring triathlon season on April 17 at the Hyco Lake Triathlon Festival in North Carolina.
