INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State used a decisive second quarter on its way to a 120-77 win over Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets outscored the Senators 38-14 in the second quarter shooting 54 percent from the field and hitting seven threes.
Additionally, WVSU was able to turn 32 D&E turnovers into 51 points in the game, while only committing 10 of its own.
Charity Shears hit eight three-pointers on the day and finished with 24 points for WVSU (3-3). Destiny Fields had 18 points and five rebounds, while Chloe Cheresne had 16 points and four boards. Shelby Harmeyer and Kalia Cunningham each contributed 12 points.
Jamiyah Johnson had 20 points and 19 rebounds for the Senators (1-4).
Sydney Nestor also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Lena Lee each had 11.
