GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
KEY SEQUENCE
  • A chippy afternoon saw both sides contesting everything, but the Notre Dame College Falcons broke through in the second half on a goal by Arthur Moraes. Despite some dangerous offensive chances from Davis & Elkins to close the first half, the Falcons seized the momentum early in the second period as the Senators were unable to muster quality scoring chances against a stout opposition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both sides posted identical first half numbers with two shots on goal in the opening frame. A Nicholas Burnz shot was turned away and the Falcons defense blocked aside the ensuing rebound chance by Charles Mavronis in the 31st minute. The Falcons countered back with a pair of shots that spanned the 34th and 35th minutes of the first half.
  • Moraes found the back of the net just over three minutes into the second half and lifted the Falcons in front 1-0. Markus Just launched a shot wide in the 75th minute, accounting for one of the best chances that Davis & Elkins had in the second half.
  • Niklas Bohlin scored after he was upended by an aggressive Everton Carvalho tackle. The penalty shot goal doubled the Falcons lead with just about one minute remaining.

GAME NOTES
  • Offense was difficult to come by for the Senators, as Notre Dame cleared away several balls out of the box to avert danger.
  • Davis & Elkins mustered two shots on goal, while the Falcons had just four.
  • In total, six cards were issued in the contest, with three given to the Falcons in the first half and three given to the Senators in the second half.
  • The teams combined for 26 fouls on the game, as neither side gave the other much space to operate.
