KEY SEQUENCE
  • Already ahead 1-0 in the match, a late 5-1 run in the second set powered the Senators to a 2-0 match lead. Lillie Mueller and Mya Mintschenko smacked kills to begin the run before three Charleston attack errors ended the frame as the Senators picked up the conference sweep on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • D&E capitalized on a few Charleston mishaps to take a 3-0 lead in the opening set.  Charleston would respond, but back-to-back aces by Kelly Smith helped the Senators regroup to keep a slight advantage. Charleston would take two timeouts towards the end of the frame to ease the momentum, proving to be effective. Ultimately the Senators hung on to win the set 25-21, off a pair of key blocks by Lillie Mueller and Mya Mintschenko.
  • Charleston began the second set with an early lead, but a key kill by Raleighanne Weaver made it 14-13, jump-starting the Senators to an 11-4 run to take the second set. D&E was strong offensively, collecting 15 kills in the frame to pull ahead 2-0 in the match.
  • D&E did not relent in the third set, opening the frame with a 12-4 lead which forced a Charleston timeout. The Golden Eagles answered following the stoppage with a 5-1 run, which caused Davis & Elkins to take a timeout. D&E battled back, fending off several surges from Charleston to win the set 25-22.
