GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
KEY SEQUENCE
  • Concord came out with an initial surge on its home court, but Davis & Elkins ripped off two separate runs in the opening set to move in front. The opening set victory by a score of 25-20 set the tone for the entire match as the Senators replicated that effort in sets two and three for the conference sweep on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Peyton Wiseman smacked a kill to put Concord in front and a quick 4-0 spurt lifted the hosts to an 11-7 lead in the opening frame. Davis & Elkins answered back, scoring eight of the next nine points for a 16-13 edge. Another run, this time six straight points from the visitors, was highlighted by four consecutive service aces from Kelly Smith.
  • Concord again took an early lead in set two with an ace making it 8-5. The Mountain Lions maintained a slight advantage throughout the set before the senators ripped off an 8-2 scoring outburst for the second set win. Solei Daniels, Lillie Mueller, Kaitlyn LaCour and Kylianne Philip all posted kills in the final surge and Luann O'Kane ended the frame with an ace.
  • D&E proved to be the beneficiaries of a quick start in the third set as the Senators jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead with a sweep looming. Mueller and LaCour had kills in the opening moments of the set for Davis & Elkins, which later pushed its lead to 18-14 off a kill from Essence West. The Mountain Lions had one last gasp left in them, slicing their deficit to one (20-19) before the Senators closed out the frame.
