Volleyball Notches Another Home Sweep on Tuesday

KEY SEQUENCE
  • Davis & Elkins took control of the match with a 7-0 spurt in the second set to take a 10-3 lead. The advantage was one the Senators enjoyed throughout the evening, rolling to another home victory and third consecutive sweep on Tuesday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Senators couldn't be stopped in the second set, ultimately jumping out to a 16-4 lead. An 8-1 run capped the second set, which included kills from Mueller and Solei Daniels, for the 25-9 set victory.
  • Salem cut the Davis & Elkins lead to 6-4 in the third set, but the senators countered back with the next five points for an 11-4 advantage. Essence West began the surge with a big swing from the outside and Brianna Portley capped the run with an ace. Maddie Jaloszynski had a good run of success at the service line, helping the Senators to a 20-8 lead before kills from Mueller and Raleighanne Weaver made it 24-10.
     
GAME NOTES
  • Four players had five or more kills for the Senators in the victory. LaCour hit a blistering .538 on limited touches, putting down eight kills on 13 total attacks.
  • Eight different players recorded an ace in the victory, including two each from Mueller, Mintschenko and Kelly Smith.
  • D&E has hit .300 or better as a team in two of three home games this season.

  • Davis & Elkins begins conference play on Friday, September 27 when it hosts West Virginia State at 7:00 PM.
