GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
KEY SEQUENCE
  • A big offensive attack powered the Senators at the end of the first set, as D&E reeled off the last six points with kills from Luann O'Kane (2), Lillie Mueller (2) and Kaitlyn LaCour for a 25-21 win. It would set the tone for several big runs to close out each set as the Senators rolled to a 3-0 win in their home opener on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Davis & Elkins opened the set with a 6-3 lead and expanded it to 10--4 after three consecutive Bloomsburg errors and a service ace from Kelly Smith. Consecutive kills 17-9 from LaCour and Mya Mintschenko pushed the Senators to a 17-9 lead before the visiting Huskies went on a run to make it 17-16. The Huskies eventually grabbed the lead at 20-19 with a service aces, but the Senators fired back with a run of their own to close out the set.
  • Bloomsburg came out the aggressor in the second set, opening up a 6-3 edge before climbed their way back. A 5-0 run, highlighted by kills from LaCour and Mintchenko, gave the Senators a 15-12 advantage. LaCour capped the set with a kill for the 25-20 set victory and 2-0 lead in the match.
  • Back-to-back kills from O'Kane helped the Senators build a 9-5 lead in the third set, and Raleighanne Weaver cracked a kill for a 13-10 edge. Service aces from Smith and Sarah Warren made it 19-15 as part of a 4-1 run. D&E capped the match with five of the final six points, with Weaver and LaCour putting the finishing touches on the sweep with a kill each.

GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
KEY SEQUENCE
  • With neither side able to open up much separation to begin the match, Davis & Elkins found a way to nab the victory in an extended first set. A block by Weaver and Warren set the Senators up with a 26-25 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Each team traded points in the early going of the first set, and the score remained close throughout. D&E jumped ahead, 16-13, after a pair of block assists from the combination of Mueller, Mintschenko and O'Kane. Alderson Broaddus battled back to tie the opening frame at 2-4, but Davis & Elkins held on to win an extended opening set by a 29-27 margin.
  • LaCour punched in a kill to make it 6-3 in the second set before O'Kane gave the Senators the lead back at 1-15 with a kill. Mueller and Mintchenko denied an attempt at the net and O'Kane launched a service ace for the 25-19 set win.
  • Sticking with the theme throughout the match, the third set was back and forth, with the teams trading points for most of the early portions. Smith played in a perfectly-placed service to push D&E in front 19-16. AB attempted to close the gap in the final set, but Davis & Elkins ultimately finished the home sweep after LaCour took a Warren pass and dropped it down for a kill.
