KEY SEQUENCE
  • Charleston got on the board early, connecting with a goal less than five minutes into the game, ultimately taking the wind out of the sails for the Senators in the opening moments of the highly anticipated conference contest at an energized Nuttall Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Charleston had possession early and cashed in with a quick tally on a cross in the box. The Golden Eagles made it 2-0 after Eduardo Iranzo finished a scramble in front from a shot that hit the crossbar just moments prior.
  • Matteo Ghezzi lined up a shot that was turned aside with less than five minutes left in the opening half as the Golden Eagles took a 2-0 advantage into the intermission. Charleston doubled its lead to 4-0 with goals at 51:47 and 60:55, as Ettore Ballestracci and Iranzo each scored their second markers of the contest.
  • Victor Pires put the Senators on the board after pouncing off a shot from Jens Ovreseth. The offensive surge all came off a corner from a Felipe Polycarpo shot that was blocked.
  • Charleston continued to apply pressure, having several goals waved off due to offside plays.

GAME NOTES
  • Charleston blistered 11 shots on target, keeping goalkeeper Everton Carvalho busy in net. The senior made seven saves in goal, including several athletic stops to thwart quality scoring chances from the Golden Eagles.
  • Pires is the second different player to score a goal in as many games for Davis & Elkins after Nicholas Burnz cashed in last Sunday against Concord.
  • Ghezzi recorded two shots on goal to lead the charge offensively for Davis & Elkins.
