GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
KEY SEQUENCE
  • Just missing out on several opportunities, Davis & Elkins finally converted on an Asheli Freed tally in the 64th minute. Walsh kept up the pressure following the Senators marker and put the game out of reach with a header by Brianna Sanborn just over four minutes later to make it 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cavaliers struck early in the first half as Olivia Peters finished from 25 yards out at 16:26 in the game. The Senators were limited to just one shot on goal in the first half, along with one corner offensively. Despite the lack of shots on goal, the Senators had a couple hopeful surges offensively, all of which ultimately were cleared away by the defense. An offside at 22:11 squandered a strong scoring chance for the Senators, as Walsh was able to maintain the 1-0 edge.
  • The Cavaliers scored once again with 35:02 left in the second half of play, as Maddie Malinnowski sank the ball into the lower left of the net off a pass by Olivia Peters. Davis & Elkins responded, notching their first goal of the game with 25:08 in the second half as Asheli Freed sank the ball into the high right of the net to make it 2-1.
  • The momentary charge was short-lived for Davis & Elkins as Walsh added another tally just over four minutes later. Brianna Sanborn got her head on a ball that found the back of the net off a perfectly played free kick from just inside midfield.
  • Nariana Nealy rang a ball off the crossbar in the 81st minute, amounting to the Senators best look for the remainder of the contest.

GAME NOTES
  • The Senators held the slight edge in shots, but Caldwell converted on three of its five attempts on goal.
  • Freed recorded her second goal of the season in the second half, it was the ninth of her career.
  • Katie Clarke made a pair of saves in 62 minutes of action and she was relieved in goal by Sierra Curtis, who played in her first collegiate game on Saturday.
