Shawn Pass Throws Gem in Win over Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio -

Shawn Pass' complete game four hitter propelled the Senators to a win in Game 4 of their series against Tiffin to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Dragons on Easter Sunday in Tiffin, Ohio.

Games 1 and 2 of the series were played on Thursday in Elkins due to the threat of inclement weather in Ohio, and the final two games of the series were played Sunday at Tiffin.

Tiffin was led by Cody Orr's complete game in Game 1 in their 5-1 victory. Brent McMillion struck out seven in 4 2/3 innings for D&E, and Kade Kozak continued his strong pitching with 3 1/3 innings in relief, allowing just two hits and an unearned run. Shawn Pass went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly to drive in the only run for the Senators, and Justin Worley went 2-4 with a double.

In Game 2, Tiffin pushed across five runs in the last two innings of a 6-4 victory. Guiseppe Orlando scored the first run for D&E on a wild pitch, and Tanner Wickham plated a run off his third inning double.

Guiseppe Orlando would score Brandon Plummer for a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning, but the Dragons would tie the game and push across three more runs in the sixth for a 6-3 lead.

Tanner Wickham scored Brandon Plummer off a sacrifice fly in the seventh, but that was all the Senators would do in the comeback attempt, falling 6-4.

On Sunday in Game 3, Tanner Wickham and Brandon Plummer would hit their first home runs of the season. Tiffin scored seven runs early to build up a lead they would not surrender.

Justin Worley added an RBI double, and Carlos Texeira threw two scoreless innings in relief. Rory Burke also tossed a scoreless inning.

In Game 4, Shawn Pass led the way for D&E, allowing just four hits and one run in his nine-inning performance on the mound.

Despite the pitching, the Senators got nothing going at the plate, until the seventh inning when Guiseppe Orlando scored Zachary Higgins off a base hit to tie the game at 1.

Chase DeGrood brought in the winning run, drawing a walk to score Brandon Plummer in the seventh. Shawn Pass continued to stymie the Dragons for a 2-1 lead.

The Senators will take on AB in two big GMAC games on Wednesday, at 2 and 4 PM in Philippi.
