SENATORS PICK UP FIRST WIN OF SEASON IN SPLIT WITH ODU

ELKINS, W.Va. - Senators split with Ohio Dominican University and get the first win of the season in a G-MAC doubleheader.

The first game of the day wasn't very good for the Senators, who let ODU score runs throughout the game and weren't able to follow the visitors closely.

The first run scored by D&E only came in the bottom of the fifth when Greyson Caldwell singled to shotstop, scoring Justin Worley.

Davis & Elkins could only score three more runs. Anthony Laney singled to center field, scoring Chase Degrood. Trevor McMillion singled to left field and Andre Raimirez scored. Laney scored his second run of the day, D&E's fourth, after Guiseppe Orlando walked, closing the first contest at 4-13.

In the second game, even though D&E allowed a run in the top of the third, the Senators scored two runs in the bottom of the same inning. Ramirez reached first base on an error by 2b and Shawn Pass scored, unearned. Laney singled to left field, scoring Degrood scored, team unearned.

Two innings later, D&E scored its two final runs. Pass scored, once again, when Ramirez singled to center field. Degrood closed the count scoring when Ryan Savitt singled to second base.

The visitors still scored one more run, but Marcos Feria, who pitched for most of the game, helped the Senators maintain the 4-3 lead until the end, counting six strikeouts in the contest.

The Senators will return to action tomorrow for another G-MAC doubleheader against ODU. The games are set for 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
