Elkins, W.V.a - The Davis and Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to Malone University 66-59 this afternoon at the McDonnell Center for a G-MAC contest.
The Senators started off well, taking the lead and keeping it at 14-12 to end the first quarter of the game.
Jamiyah Johnson picked up 10 points to help D&E take a 31-28 lead into the halftime.
After the break, D&E kept being followed closely by the Pioneers, who took the lead at the last second of the third quarter, making it 47-44.
The Senators fought throughout the last quarter to take the lead back, and they did on the sixth minute when Johnson scored a three-pointer.
However, not long after that, Malone came back and increased the difference to 7 points with one minute left on the clock, making it 62-55.
D&E still scored a couple of points but wasn't able to stop the Pioneers. The final score was 66-59 for the visitors.
Jamiyah Johnson finished the game with 13 rebounds and 15 points, followed by
Colleena Burdock who had 12 and four assists.
The Senators shot only 37 percent but were 88.2 from the free-throw line, going 15-for-17.
The Davis and Elkins College Women's Basketball team will face Ohio Valley University next Thursday for another G-MAC play at home. The game is set for 7:30 PM.
