Following Saturday's rainout, the Senators baseball team took on #22 Carson-Newman on Sunday in Tennessee.
Justin Worley went 3-for-4 during the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader at Carson-Newman. Worley would also score a run and plate
Connor Fitzgerald with a 9th inning double in their 15-4 loss in the first game of the doubleheader.
Brent McMillion started off strong on the mound, striking out nine Eagles in 4 2/3 innings, but a seven-run 8th inning put the game completely out of reach.
Fitzgerald went 2-for-4, while
David Caldwell had 2 RBI's in the effort.
In Game 2,
Chase DeGrood led off with his first home run of the season. In the second inning, DeGrood added an RBI single to score
Troy McMillion.
The Senators would take a 3-0 lead when
Tanner Wickham plated DeGrood, but the Eagles quickly struck back with a four run second inning to take the lead.
Troy McMillion tied the game back up with an RBI double, but the Eagles tacked on five runs in the bottom of the third inning to snag a lead they would hold the remainder of the game.
Brandon Plummer pitched two scoreless innings in relief, with three strikeouts.
Justin Worley added two hits to improve his average to a team-leading .462 for the young season.
The Senators will return to action on Friday in South Carolina taking on Newberry at 2 PM and Francis Marion at 5 PM.
