COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Davis and Elkins College Women's Basketball team won a 55-50 battle on the road against Ohio Dominican University in G-MAC play this afternoon.

The Senators started off strong in the game and forced ODU to turn the ball over eight times during the first half, scoring 10 points off of those.

D&E finished the first period with a 16-12 advantage, going into the second quarter of the game to steal the ball five times and keep a high percentage of 80 percent from the free-throw line.

ODU didn't give up but the Senators kept pushing and increased the advantage on the scoreboard to 31-26 before halftime.

Except for two minutes in the second period when ODU had the lead, D&E stayed ahead on the scoreboard until the end of the third quarter, leading the game by 40-34.

The last period of the game was when things got very interesting. The Panthers worked hard trying to get closer on the scoreboard and tied the game with six minutes left on the clock.

Colleena Burdock gave D&E the lead back with a jumper with 2:22 left to make it 51-50. The home team, refusing to lose, tried to find a way to break Davis and Elkins' defense but were not able to do so.

Jamiyah Johnson would score five more points to finished the close battle off with a final score of 55-50.

Burdock was the top scorer for D&E with 11 points. The sophomore also gave five important assists in the game.

Jay Kilpatrick once again showed her accuracy from the free-throw line, scoring all of the three attempts she had. Kilpatrick scored a total of 10 points.

Johnson finished the game with nine points. The sophomore also collected 10 rebounds for the Senators.

D&E shot 32.2 percent in today's game and scored 11 out of the 14 free-throw attempts, 78.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Senators will return to action on Thursday when they play Kentucky Wesleyan University in Kentucky for another G-MAC contest. The game is set for 5:30 PM.
