COVERAGE/SCHEDULE

CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
  • Davis & Elkins is looking for a top-three finish to become the first cross country team in program history to advance to NCAA Nationals later this month.
  • The top three men's and women's team in the Atlantic Regional race receive automatic bids to the NCAA Nationals race, held on November 23 in California.
  • Individuals finishing in the top five (or top two individuals not on a qualifying team) also receive automatic bids.
  • Other at-large qualifiers are selected by the NCAA based off a set of criteria, which can be found here.

DAVIS & ELKINS WOMEN'S NOTES
  • Davis & Elkins has held down the top spot in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings each of the past six weeks and look to continue a stellar season in its first year as a member of the Mountain East Conference.
  • D&E has raced on this course before this season, picking up a second-place finish out of 37 teams in the Lock Haven Invite on September 31. The Senators finished behind West Virginia, which brought several of its top runners to compete in the event.
  • The Senators used a total team effort to capture the MEC Championship two weekends ago at Oglebay Golf Course. Claire Otte (23:23:95) won the event for the D&E women, while three runners finished inside the top five.
  • Svea Timm, who was the next Senator to cross the line at the MEC Championships, was named the MEC Runner of the Year and MEC Freshman of the Year during the awards ceremony. Timm nabbed eighth place at the LHU Invite back in September, completing the course in 21:25.5.
  • Head coach Jason Pyles, now in his fourth season, earned the MEC Coach of the Year award on the women's side following the conference championships.
  • All seven runners for D&E picked up all conference honors following the race with a finish inside the top 20. Otte, Timm, Anya Miller, Madison Michels and Kloe Littleman were first team selections, while Hannah Moore and Skylee Watson earned second team honors.

DAVIS & ELKINS MEN'S NOTES
  • The Senator men's team has jumped to third in the regional rankings and put on a strong showing with a second-place finish in the MEC Championships race on October 26.
  • Davis & Elkins has won a pair of races this year and previewed the regional course in the Lock Haven Invite on September 21. Matthew Chapman was the top finisher for D&E in a talented field of teams, completing the course in 25:41.3.
  • David Magda broke up an all Charleston (W. Va.) top five on the men's side at the conference championships, running to fourth in 27:02.27. He was one of three Senators inside the top ten, along with Felix Buck-Gramcko (27:11.5) and Aidan Konhaus (21:13.7) as the trio earned first team all-conference honors.
  • Chapman (27:33.9) and Scott Barker (27:43.7) picked up second team all-conference honors with 12th and 14th-place finishes, respectively.
  • Davis & Elkins will look to add an extra spark to its lineup with the potential addition of Emeric Arnaud, the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Freshman of the Year.
