ELKINS, W. Va. – Powered by a balanced scoring attack all season long, Davis & Elkins put its depth on full display in a 5-0 home victory over West Liberty on Wednesday night at Nuttall Field in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.
Davis & Elkins (8-8, 7-8 MEC) came out buzzing and took a 1-0 edge on a tally from
Markus Just. Just, who scored his team-best fourth goal of the season, received a pass from
James Gill and fired it home for the opening marker. Gill wasn't finished offensively, burying a rebound chance off an
Abel Ameyaw shot just over one minute later for a 2-0 lead.
The Senators continued the offensive onslaught in the second half as Gill posted his second goal of the night in the 63rd minute off a long pass from
Felipe Polycarpo.
Daniel Cerezo was rewarded for his hard work in the offensive zone throughout the evening after he converted a corner kick attempt from
Francisco Ferrer in the 84th minute. Ferrer capped the scoring with a long shot from outside the box for a 5-0 edge.
West Liberty (3-13-1, 3-11-1 MEC) could not generate much offensively as the Senators defensive line helped to insulate goalkeeper
Everton Carvalho on a chilly night.
