ELKINS, W. Va. – Similar to when Davis & Elkins went to play West Virginia Wesleyan earlier this season, the Bobcats converted on a second half tally that proved to be the only marker of the contest in a 1-0 decision on Sunday at Nuttall Field in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.
Davis & Elkins (8-9, 7-9 MEC) celebrated Senior Day before the match and that energy carried onto the pitch for both sides. Lauri Vasa took a Joshua Tenney pass on an inside run and sent a shot into the op portion of the net in the 86th minute for the game-winner.
West Virginia Wesleyan (12-5-1, 10-4-1 MEC) began to build momentum prior to converting on the goal, hitting a post and missing a clear scoring look just minutes before.
Everton Carvalho made four stops in goal for D&E, while
Jens Ovreseth,
Seth Cain and
Miguel Rodriguez had shots on frame.
Markus Just also had a pair of shots for the Senators, but Jeremy Collins made three saves on his way to a clean sheet for the Bobcats.
