KEY SEQUENCE
  • After both sides were unable to convert on several scoring chances, the Senators finally broke the scoreless tie in the 87th minute when Jens Ovreseth buried his second goal of the season off a pass from Abel Ameyaw. The goal brought a big sense of relief for the Senators, who avenged their previous loss to Frostburg just over a week ago.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Matteo Ghezzi had a pep in his step early on, firing several attempts wide including a long shot that rang off the crossbar. Daniel Cerezo followed suit offensively with three shots in an eight-minute span during the first half.
  • Adam Gage ripped a shot wide for Frostburg with just about 10 minutes left in the opening fame before Francisco Ferrer had the last scoring chance for the Senators in the first half.
  • Frostburg controlled the pace for much of the second half, but was unable to piece together any quality scoring opportunity against the Senator defense. Breno Quian and Jose Rentas had shots stopped by Joel Assal as the D&E pressure mounted.
  • Abel Ameyaw dribbled into the box on the right side and found an open Ovreseth, who cashed in his second goal of the season, for the 1-0 lead.

GAME NOTES
  • Davis & Elkins did not allow an attempt on goal in the contest, helping Everton Carvalho earn the shutout.
  • Both sides had plenty of fouls as the teams combined for 26 whistles. The game also saw four yellow cards issues, including two to each side.
  • Ghezzi was issued a straight red following the conclusion of the game in a scrum during the handshake.
  • Cerezo was dangerous again for the Senators, lacing three shots in the game with two on goal.

UP NEXT
  • D&E is back home on Wednesday, October 9 when the Senators welcome Wheeling to Nutall Field for a 7:30 PM matchup.
