KEY SEQUENCE
  • West Virginia Wesleyan charged the offensive zone and finished a well-executed cross to take a 1-0 second half lead. Daniel Cerezo attempted to knot the score at one just over 30 seconds later, but his shot was flicked to the crossbar and over the net as the Bobcats held on for the home victory on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Possession was hard to come by to open the game as both teams traded time around the midfield. Nicholas Burnz got his head on a shot that sailed wide off a corner kick and Jens Ovreseth had a chance at 31:21 in the opening half that was stopped by Bobcat goalie Victor Medellin.
  • Everton Carvalho stopped a West Virginia Wesleyan opportunity with just under one minute to go in the first half as the teams went into the intermission scoreless. Francisco Ferrer fired a shot high and Cerezo stepped into an attempt that was saved 30 seconds later.
  • Nika Monaselidze filled in on the left side of the box and drilled a cross for a 1-0 WVWC lead. Cerezo had the Senators best chance of the evening just over 30 seconds following the restart as the ball was tipped away off the crossbar.
  • Markus Just, Sebastian Ongkowijaya and Matteo Ghezzi each had a scoring chance over the final 15 minutes of the game, but Davis & Elkins was unable to find its scoring touch. Carvalho made two more saves in the half to keep the score at 1-0.

GAME NOTES
  • Cerezo had a game-high three shots, with two chances just missing for the Senators.
  • Carvahlo made six saves in the loss, marking his second game of the year with six or more saves.
  • Davis & Elkins made a charge after West Virginia Wesleyan's Ryan Fisher received a red card, forcing the Bobcats to play one player short for the final 19 minutes.
  • Most of the stats were virtually identical, with WVWC holding the slight advantage in shots (10-9) and shots on goal (7-6).
