WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. - Three first half goals were just enough for Davis & Elkins in a 3-2 road win at West Liberty on Sunday afternoon in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.
D&E (5-6, 4-6 MEC) took control early with goals just over one minute apart and fended off a pair of second half tallies by West Liberty (1-11-1, 1-9-1 MEC) in the one-goal victory. The Senators flipped the script, scoring early goals in the opening half after conceding them the last two games.
Matteo Ghezzi put the Senators on the board with his second goal of the season in the 14th minute on a shot off a set piece.
Markus Just found the net just over a minute later, scoring a goal right outside the six-yard box off a pass from
Abel Ameyaw for a 2-0 lead. Just continued his stellar offensive play with his second goal of the afternoon with just two seconds left in the half for a 3-0 advantage.
West Liberty got on the board in the 61st minute on a penalty kick goal, trimming the Davis & Elkins lead to 3-1. Timothe Tranvan made it a one goal game with just about 45 seconds left in regulation as the Hilltoppers ran out of time.
Everton Carvalho made three saves in his first action since October 9 against Wheeling.

- Ghezzi returned to the lineup in a big way with his second goal of the season. He had previously missed the past two games due to an accumulation of red cards.
- Just scored his first two goals of the season in the first half, giving him five goals in two seasons with Davis & Elkins.
- Just was everywhere for the Senators on both sides of the field and posted a game-high four shots in the win.
- Davis & Elkins had 10 shots on goal for the first time this season.
- Seven different players collected a shot for Davis & Elkins.
