Men’s Soccer Drops Road Contest at Notre Dame College

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Davis & Elkins held the edge in shots on target, but Notre Dame College scored a goal in each half to dispatch of the Senators, 2-0, on Thursday afternoon at Mueller Field in Mountain East Conference (MEC) action.

Davis & Elkins (4-6, 3-6 MEC) found itself on the wrong end of an early goal once again as the Falcons took a quick 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. Javier Mate found the back of the net on a header off a corner kick by Arthur Favero.

Breno Quian had three shot attempts in response for the Senators in the 20th, 24th and 28th minutes as part of a charge toward the middle of the opening half. Markus Just and Daniel Cerezo also broke free for scoring chances, but slotted them wide of the target.

Jens Ovreseth had consecutive chances early in the second half, but the early looks proved to be the only shot attempts for the Senators. Notre Dame (7-3-1, 7-2-1 MEC) flipped the script and eventually doubled the lead with a second half tally in the 74th minute.
