ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat Hillsdale College 63-52 Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators trailed 31-14 at the half, but the hosts came out of the halftime break and outscored the Chargers 27-10 in the third quarter to erase the deficit and tie the game at 41 going into the final 10 minutes.
Davis & Elkins continued to roll in the fourth quarter pulling ahead by as much as 12 in the 11-point victory.
Jay Kilpatrick led the Senators, setting a career high in the victory with 25 points. Kilpatrick had six field goals, including four made three pointers. She was also 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.
Kali Wilburn,
Colleena Burdock and
Sydney Nestor joined Kilpatrick in double figures. Wilburn finished with 12 points. Burdock scored all 10 of her points in the second half.
Nestor collected her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Wilburn, Burdock and Kilpatrick all had four rebounds in the contest.
Burdock led the Senators with five steals and five assists.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Thursday, as the Senators host Kentucky Wesleyan at the McDonnell Center. Tipoff for the conference battle is set for 5:30 p.m.
