CANTON, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Soccer team opened up Great Midwest play on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over Malone University.
11 minutes into the game,
Carlos Cruza took a long pass up the wing from keeper
Richard Glemawu and then beat Malone keeper Alexandre Durand to the far post to give the Senators with lead.
The Senators would then limit Malone to just four shots, as Glemawu picked up a clean sheet in his debut for the Senators.
Davis & Elkins dominated the game and pace of play, firing 24 shots toward the Malone goal, including 11 efforts on target. However, the Senators were unable to add to their early lead.
Pedro Bassin Nunes had five shots in the game, while
Abel Ameyaw had four shots.
Glemawu was forced into only one save on the night, as the Senators limited Malone's attack.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Thursday, welcoming in Trevecca Nazarene for the Great Midwest home opener. The Senators will kickoff at 5 p.m. start at Nuttall Field.
