CANTON, Ohio - The Davis & Elkins Volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss this afternoon at Malone in Great Midwest play. The Senators avoided the sweep with a third-set victory, but lost 25-12, 25-12, 21-25, 25-17.
The Senators hit just .058 for the match with just 32 kills to 51 for Malone. The hosts hit .452, .400 and .333 in their set victories, respectively.
Mya Mintschenko was a bright spot for D&E, recording a career high nine kills to lead the team. Mintschenko also hit .389 for the match. Mintschenko also had the only solo block of the afternoon for D&E.
Kautln LaCour and
Raleighanne Weaver each had seven kills, while
Charisse Mitchell and
Alexa Smarra finished with four.
Lillie Mueller led the Senators defensively at the net, chipping in on seven blocks. LaCour assisted with five.
LaCour also tied for the team high with
Kelly Smith, each recording 10 digs.
The Senators will look to bounce back on Tuesday, hosting Ohio Valley at the McDonnell Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
