ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Soccer team came from behind to tie Alderson Broaddus 1-1 Tuesday night at Nuttall Field.
The Senators fell behind early as the visitors capitalized on a corner kick just past five minutes into the game. Agostino Greco took the loose ball and beat
Everton Carvalho.
Alderson Broaddus would have two more chances that Carvalho would stop, but it was the Battlers taking the lead into the break.
The Senators didn't trail long in the second half, as
Pedro Bassin Nunes scored just 1:09 into the second on an individual effort to tie the game.
Bassin Nunes won a long bouncing ball from a center back and the Battlers goal keeper, who attempted to make a tackle 35 yards out. The junior beat both and fired into the open net.
The Senators would control the majority of the chances in the second half, firing 12 shots. However, Davis & Elkins was only able to force Francisco Yudego into three saves.
In the first overtime, both teams would get one shot on target, but neither team was able to find the winner.
The Senators will now set their sights on Ohio Valley, as Davis & Elkins travels to the No. 2 Fighting Scots on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. in Vienna.
