ELKINS, W.Va. - The Davis and Elkins College Baseball team split with Alderson Broaddus this afternoon winning 8-6 and falling 4-0 at Hapertown Field in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action.
With a strong come back and a
Bragg Eastin's home run, D&E beat AB in the first game.
The visitors started off strong, scoring two runs in the first inning with a home run and three more in the top of the third.
The Senators finally got on the scoreboard when
Travis Danielson doubled and scored
Bragg Eastin in the bottom of the 4th inning.
The next two innings would really start the comeback for the Senators, who scored three runs when
Maxx Mahon doubled, scoring
Chase DeGrood and
James Turnbull. Then,
Bragg Eastin singled to score
Johnny Liu to make it 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth.
With the bases loaded,
Hunter Thomas was able to score
Chase DeGrood with a groundout in the sixth to tie the game 5-5.
In the seventh, Eastin went deep to put D&E in the lead.
Later in the inning, hit a sacrifice fly that scored
Robbie McKinney, increasing the advantage to 7-5.
The last run for the Senators was scored by
Johnny Liu on another sacrifice fly, this time from Eastin.
The Battlers would go on and score one more run in the top of the last inning, but the Senators held on for their first G-MAC victory of the season.
The Senators started slow in the second game and were never able to get the bats going, finishing with three total hits.
D&E fell behind in the third inning, giving up a home run. Alderson Broaddus would score three more in the fourth.
Davis & Elkins will come back to Hapertown Field tomorrow at noon for the rubber match of the series against Alderson Broaddus. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
