Baseball Picks Up 14-3 Victory Over Glenville State

ELKINS - The Davis & Elkins College Baseball team picked up a big non-conference victory Wednesday afternoon, defeating Glenville State 14-3 at Harpertown Field.

The Senators jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first with Bragg Eastin's bases-clearing double to left center that scored Maxx Mahon, Hunter Thomas and Travis Danielson.

Glenville responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second, but the Senators answered right back with three more runs in the second on a three-run homerun to left by Mahon.

After a scoreless third, both teams scored in the fourth with Glenville scoring an unearned run on a wild pitch and the Senators scoring an unearned run via an error from the Pioneers.

The pitching and defense picked up for both teams, with the Senators holding Glenville scoreless the rest of the way.

The Senators were held scoreless into the seventh inning when Tyler Mason batted home Robbie McKinney on a single through the left side.

Davis & Elkins would have its biggest inning of the game in the eighth, scoring six runs. McKinney started the scoring with a two-RBI double as Thomas and Steven White scored.

Brandon Plummer then had his own two-RBI double that scored Connor Fitzgerald and McKinney. Dominic Bianchini and Thomas picked up RBI singles to cap off the scoring with Plummer and James Turnbull crossing home plate.

Nine different pitchers tossed an inning for the Senators in the game. Owen Arbogast picked up two strikeouts for the Senators. Roger Shultz, Cody Luker and Brent McMillion each picked up a strikeout without allowing a hit.
