WHEELING, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins Baseball team dropped its doubleheader with Malone University Saturday to close out the weekend road trip to Ohio. The Senators fell to the Pioneers 10-7 in game one and 14-9 in game two.
The Senators, who were originally scheduled to host the series in Elkins and played as the home team for the doubleheader, fell behind in the third inning when Malone scored.
Bragg East hit a homerun in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 4-1.
Malone answered back with two in the fifth and then scored four in the sixth inning.
Shawn Pass then hit a homerun for the Senators in the sixth inning.
After scoreless innings in the seventh and eighth, Davis & Elkins attempted to rally back, scoring five runs in the ninth.
Chase DeGrood hit an RBI double to right field to score

A few batters later, Pass doubled to left field, scoring DeGrood and moving
Frank Masella to third.
Shawn White hit an RBI groundout to score Masella and then
Maxx Mahon singled to score Pass.
The Senators scored their final run of the game when Danielson stole home on a failed pickoff attempt on Mahon at first.
Arman Lakhani picked up the loss in five innings of work. Lakhani gave up six runs on seven hits. He finished with three strikeouts.
In game two, Malone took the lead in the top of the first with a run, but the Senators answered back with Eastin's Grand Slam to give D&E a 4-1 lead.
That lead didn't last long, as Malone scored five in the top of the second and three more in the third.
Eastin hit his second homerun of the game and third of the day in the third inning with a solo shot to right field.
After Malone score two in the top of the fourth, Pass hit his second homerun of the day with a two-run shot to left field, cutting the deficit to 11-7.
Malone then scored a run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to go up 14-7.
The Senators would cut back the deficit with the Senators' fourth homerun of the game, as Mahon hit a two-run shot down the left field line.
Davis & Elkins would be unable to generate any more offense in the contest.
Cody Luke picked up the loss, going just one inning, allowing six runs, five earned.
Davis & Elkins is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 3 with a non-conference game against Salem. The game is set for a 3 p.m. start at Harpertown Field.
