Baseball Lose Both In Doubleheader At Walsh

CANTON, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Baseball team fell in both games of its doubleheader at Walsh University Friday afternoon. The Senators dropped game one 10-2 before falling 14-1 in game two.

The Senators were in a battle early in game one, as neither team scored until the Senators took a 1-0 lead on Travis Danielson's RBI single to left center that scored Robbie McKinney.

The game, which was originally scheduled to be held in Elkins, remained 1-0 in favor of the Senators until Walsh scored eight runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Davis & Elkins answered back with a run in the bottom of the inning on Bragg Eastin's RBI single to right with the bases loaded that scored Hunter Thomas. However, the Senators wouldn't score anymore, stranding the bases loaded.

Walsh would cap off the victory with two more runs in the ninth.

Brent McMillion picked up the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in seven innings of work. McMillion had four strikeouts with no walks allowed in his effort.

Game two was rougher for the Senators early, as Walsh scored two in the first and two more in the third before the Senators could get their only run across the plate.

Eastin prevented the shutout with an RBI single to right field that scored Maxx Mahon in the bottom of the fourth.

Following a scoreless fifth, Walsh would score one in the sixth before exploding for nine in the seventh.

Max Laimore picked up the loss, allowing five runs, two earned, on six hits in five innings of work. He had three strikeouts to one walk in the contest.

The Senators will return to action on Saturday, as they stay in the Canton area to take on Malone for another G-MAC doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at 12 p.m. in Massillon.
