VIENNA, W.Va. – Aliyah Dukes and
Sydney Turner each scored 17 points as the Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team defeated Ohio Valley 83-74 Thursday night, snapping a three-game skid.
Turner hit five three pointers and Dukes added another three from behind the Arc to lead the Senators on the night. Turner collected five rebounds and two assists, while Dukes grabbed four boards and had three assists.
In total, five Senators finished in double figures, as
Kali Wilburn,
Nicole Armstrong and
Jamiyah Johnson all finished with 10 points. Wilburn picked up a double-double, as she led the Senators with 10 rebounds.
Johnson was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds.
Ohio Valley led after the first quarter, but the Senators jumped out to a 16-3 run to begin the second quarter, taking a lead it never relinquished.
The Senators shot 48 percent for the game, while also holding Ohio Valley to just 38 percent shooting. Davis & Elkins also outrebounded the hosts 44-32 in the game.
The Senators were able to spread the ball around well, assisting on 17 of 29 total field goals in the game.
Davis & Elkins will step out of conference play on Saturday as it closes out a four-game road swing with a trip to Salem to take on the Tigers. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday in Salem.
