Baseball Drops Doubleheader At King to Open Season

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College Baseball team dropped its doubleheader to King University on Thursday to open up the 2018 season. The Senators fell in game one 9-3 and then dropped the second game 7-1.

The Senators jumped out to a lead in both games, scoring two runs in the top of the first of game one. Maxx Mahon put the Senators on the scoreboard first with his double to right center that scored Johnny Liu.

Bragg Eastin then stepped up to the plate and singled Mahon home to give the Senators a 2-0 lead.

After King answered back with a run in the bottom of the first, Davis & Elkins would extend the lead back to two runs with Liu's 2-out RBI double to left center that scored Frank Masella, who doubled earlier in the inning.

King would score another run in the bottom of the second to cut the Senators lead to 3-2.

After a scoreless third, the Tornadoes would have a big fourth inning, scoring four runs to take a lead that they would hold onto the rest of the game.

King would add a run in the fifth and then two more runs in the sixth to cap off a 9-3 victory.
