PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team was unable to contain a late surge from Alderson Broaddus and fell to the Battlers 80-74 on Saturday in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Senators held its largest lead of the game at seven points with a three pointer from
Aliyah Dukes with 72 seconds to go in the third quarter.
However, the hosts rallied with a 6-0 run to end the quarter and the momentum carried for the Battlers, as AB outscored Davis & Elkins by seven in the final quarter to earn the victory.
Dukes tied Myriam Garcia with 25 points each to share the game high. The senior was 11 for 18 from the field in the game, including three from behind the arc. However, the Clemson, South Carolina native was held off of the free-throw line for the game and had just two assists, a rebound and a steal.
Jay Kilpatrick and
Kali Wilburn also finished in double figures. Kilpatrick had 13 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
Wilburn finished with 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.
The Senators shot 45 percent in the game and outrebounded Alderson Broaddus 32-24, but Davis & Elkins was unable to contain the Battlers offense, which shot 63 percent for the game.
Davis & Elkins will remain on the road for its third of four consecutive games away from McDonnell next week when it travels to Vienna to take on Ohio Valley. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
