ATHENS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to Concord University 66-60 Wednesday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.
After trailing by as much as 12 in the first half, the Senators took a 33-32 lead into the half time break with a strong final two minutes in the first quarter and an 18-10 second quarter.
Davis & Elkins would grow its lead early in the third quarter, going ahead by six with 15 minutes to go, but the hosts would use a 15-3 run over the final 4:43 of the third quarter and the Senators were unable to recover, falling by six.
Despite the losing effort,
Colleena Burdock led all scorers in the game, finishing with 27 points. Burdock also shared the lead for the Senators with six rebounds.
Kali Wilburn,
Sydney Nestor and
Kaylee Yergeau also had six rebounds each in the contest.
Wilburn led the team with three assists. Nestor and
Nicole Armstrong had two steals each to lead the way for the Senators.
Brianna Harper was the only other Senator in double figures, finishing with 11 points and four rebounds.
Davis & Elkins will be off for the remainder of 2018, returning to action and Great Midwest play on January 3. The Senators will host Findlay at the McDonnell Center with the tip set for 7:30 p.m.
