BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball dropped its season opener on Friday, falling to Ferris State 80-55 in the opening day of the GLIAC/G-MAC Crossover Tournament.

Nicole Armstrong and
Kali Wilburn early on saw the visitors hold a lead late into the first quarter.
However, the host Bulldogs went on a 6-0 run in the final 1:48 to close the first quarter and the Senators were unable to recover.
The Senators struggled shooting from the floor in the second quarter, going 3-for 15 from open play, including 0-for-5 from behind the arc. Ferris State shot 44 percent, scoring 24 points to D&E's 8, taking a 45-25 advantage into the break.
The Senators would fall behind by as much as 30 in the second half, being outscored 23-16 in the third quarter before outscoring the Bulldogs 14-12 in the final frame.
Wilburn led the Senators with 14 points. She also had four rebounds and a steal in the contest.
Armstrong finished with 13 points, and match Wilburn's four rebounds, as the duo finished with the second highest total on the Senators in the game. Armstrong also had four assists and a steal.
Jamiyah Johnson led the Senators on the glass, finishing with nine rebounds. She also had two blocks and a steal defensively to go along with six points and three assists.
Colleena Burdock also finished with six points and had three steals and three assists in the game.
The Senators will look to rebound on Saturday as they face Michigan Tech. The game is set to tip at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Ferris State.
