BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team wrapped up the GLIAC/G-MAC Crossover Tournament hosted at Ferris State University on Saturday, falling to Michigan Tech 75-39.
The Senators shot well in the first quarter, going 55 percent from the field, but Davis & Elkins ran into a hot shooting Michigan Tech team that was 71 percent from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc, putting the Senators behind 25-14 after 10 minutes.
Davis & Elkins would struggle however in the second quarter, hitting just two shots from the field, being outscored 22-6.
The Senators were unable to recover their early form, 30 percent shooting in the second half, as Michigan Tech outscored D&E 14-11 and 14-8 in the third and fourth quarters.
Jamiyah Johnson led the Senators with 10 points, the only one in double figures. She also collected three boards and had a steal.
Sydney Nestor finished with a team high five rebounds in the game. She also had two points, two assists and a steal.
Colleena Burdock led the Senators with four assists and three steals in the game. She also collected a pair of rebounds to go along with four points.
The Senators shot 32 percent from the field in the game but were just 2-for-19 from behind the arc.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Wednesday, as the Senators host Salem University in their home opener. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the McDonnell Center.
