PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell in its Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener Thursday night, falling to Ursuline in a nail biter 71-70.
 
The Senators held the lead in a back-and-forth battle midway through the fourth quarter, but the hosts scored six straight points to go up by four.
 
After a 7-2 run from the Senators that included a three pointer from Nicole Armstrong and baskets from Sydney Nestor and Colleena Burdock, Davis & Elkins took the lead with 75 seconds remaining.
 
Both teams missed baskets on their next offensive trips, but after a steal from Ursuline and a timeout by the Arrows, the hosts hit a jumper with 43 seconds remaining to take the lead for good.
 
Kali Wilburn led the Senators with 19 points in the game. Wilburn also had four rebounds and an assist.
 
Burdock joined Wilburn in double figures with 13 points. She also had five rebounds two assists and two steals.
 
Jamiyah Johnson led the Senators on the glass with 10 rebounds. Johnson also led the Senators with three blocks and finished with eight rebounds.
 
The Senators will look to rebound on Saturday as they travel to Painesville, Ohio to take on Lake Erie College. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
